MacEwan Edmonton is a neighborhood within the Heritage Valley area. MacEwan takes its name from John Walter Grant MacEwan who was a local historian, author and politician. A conscious effort was made to design MacEwan for a more efficient, environmentally conscious use of space and resources. Prior to housing development the land was in agricultural use with the exception of one natural area, the Virginia woodlot.
