In 1882, the area of Grandview Heights was a land holding southwest of the Edmonton settlement, owned by the McCauley family. It was subdivided during the land boom of the early 1900s. Homes in Grandview Heights Edmonton are mostly luxury homes. More affordable homes can be found nearby in the Strathcona and Southgate areas.
Grandview Heights’s current plans of subdivision are of 1958 and 1960 vintage,annexed to the City in 1913 but remained beyond the limits of urban residential development until the early 1960s.
Within Grandview Heights there are a variety of 1960s “executive”-style homes on spacious lots with mature landscaping. A number of homes at the northwest border of the community back onto the North Saskatchewan River Valley. The educational, recreational, commercial, and institutional facilities, as well as a condominium complex, are located in the Grandview Heights’s southwest portion.The population is also extremely stable, with nearly 80 percent of home owners indicating that they lived at the same address five years previously.
