With a total area of approximately 21 hectares, Quesnell Heights in West Edmonton is one of the smallest residential communities in the city with 120 houses. Although Quesnell Heights has no community facilities, many are located nearby in Rio Terrace and Patricia Heights. The West Edmonton, Meadowlark, and Southgate Malls are only minutes away when using the Whitemud Drive, and residents have access to the University of Alberta, University Hospital, and Whyte Avenue areas when using Fox Drive. There are only two named roads in Quesnell Heights which are Quesnell Crescent and Quesnell Road. The majority of real estate are single family luxury houses.

The origin of the Quesnell Heights name is not definitively known, but it may have named after Dr. Phillip Quesnell, a well-known physician who came to the city in 1912 or may also be named for J.B Quesnell, a prominent local citizen in the late 1800s. A third possibility is it was named in honour of Jules Maurice Quesnel, a famous French-Canadian clerk with the North West Company.
